The training that Bonnie Cannon provides is aimed primarily at children 8 months to 12 years of age. Here is her story in her own words:

"First, let me introduce myself. My name is Bonnie Cannon. I am a wife of 25 years. And, I'm a proud mother of 4 wonderful children... 3 girls and a boy.

I have been an instructor {swim/float/swim} for 11 years and have taught over 1600 children in the greater Houston area. Being an instructor and helping children through their aquatic journeys has been the most fulfilling experience that I have ever had. Before training to be an instructor, I was owner and operator of Mrs. B's Childcare & Pre-School out of Deltona, Florida.

In the winter of 2002, my son Alexander was just 2 when he nearly drowned while visiting a relative whose house had a pool. It happened so fast... "Plop", there went my son in the deep end. For a second, everyone stared at each other, stunned. I recall someone saying that he'd fallen in the pool and I ran screaming... "Get him! Get him!!"

In the few seconds it took me to run to the pool, Alexander's body went straight to the bottom of the six-foot-deep water... "it didn't even look like he was fighting!" My husband Wayne jumped in the frigid water to save him. He was only in there for a matter of seconds and I couldn't believe how much water he'd ingested.

This incident set me on my path to teaching children how to help themselves if they were ever in an aquatic situation. And, educating the community and parents on aquatic safety."
